Gary Neville Tells Frenkie De Jong To Take Legal Action Against Barcelona After Being Asked To Take 50 Per Cent Pay Cut

Image
Gary Neville has advised Frenkie de Jong to consider taking legal action and claims he is being bullied by his club. The Netherlands international is a top transfer target for Manchester United, with former boss Erik ten Hag desperate to make him a marquee signing. The transfer fee is not believed to be an issue, with the two clubs reportedly agreeing on a price of €75 million. Barca remain in a difficult financial situation and according to AS, they have told the former Ajax man that he must take a 50 per cent wage cut should he wish to stay put. However, the Blaugrana still owe him €17 million in deferred wages after he agreed to take a salary slash during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. And Neville has slammed Barca's treatment of De Jong, branding their actions "immoral and encouraging players' union FIFPRO TO step in. "De Jong should consider legal action v Barcelona and all players should be behind him!" Neville wrote on Twitter. "A club spending fortun...

Image
Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg is 'set to join’ newly promoted Bournemouth on loan for the 2022/23 season, according to journalist Hannah Perkins. Van den Berg joined the Reds from PEC Zwolle back in 2019 for a fee of £1.3 million, which could rise to £4.4 million with potential add-ons. After making four first team appearances in his first campaign on Merseyside, the 20-year-old centre-back has spent the last two seasons on loan at Championship side Preston North End, where he has racked up 66 senior appearances, scoring twice. The defender is now back with the club for pre-season, but another loan appears to be on the cards. According to Perkins, Van den Berg is closing in on a loan switch to Bournemouth, where he’ll spend the duration of the upcoming season. She tweeted: “Sepp van den Berg is set to join Bournemouth on a season-long loan from Liverpool." "The two clubs remain in talks but AFCB in pole position to land the defender.” Still just 20, it’s likely tha...

"It's Not A Huge Loss" - Pundit Suggests 30-Year-Old Should Leave Liverpool Following Rumoured Bid

Image
Despite reports stating Roberto Firmino will be staying at Liverpool this summer, Danny Mills has suggested the Reds should look to sell the 30-year-old. Speaking on TalkSPORT earlier today, when asked about where Liverpool would be left after a potential Firmino exit, Mills claimed it wouldn’t be a “huge loss” for the Premier League runners-up. “It’s not a huge loss, is it, realistically? “When you look at the players they have got, they have just brought in obviously Darwin Nunez, they have got Diego Jota as well, you have got enough cover in those areas. “Realistically how many games would Firmino start this year? Not many would be the answer. A few cup games.” Recent reports have insinuated the Reds aren’t prepared to sell the Brazil international, but Juventus are said to be interested in acquiring his services. They've reportedly just bid €23M for his services. Despite having just one year remaining on his current contract, one suspects it’d be a wise decision for Liverpool t...

'Liverpool Fans Can' - Jurgen Klopp Makes Major Liverpool Transfer Claim

Image
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has suggested there is unlikely to be any more incomings at Anfield this summer. Speaking to Sky Sports, Klopp revealed he is content with the squad he currently has at his disposal. From Liverpool’s camp in Austria, where his side are based for pre-season, he stated: “If nobody wants to leave, we are done, or if a bad injury comes in...I don’t hope so. But Liverpool fans can start focusing on other things". This may come as a disappointment for supporters of the Merseyside club, as recent reports have linked them heavily with Sporting Lisbon star Matheus Nunes. Portuguese journalist Correio Da Manha even claimed this week that the 23 year-old midfielder was Liverpool’s top priority. The Reds have also been rumoured to be interested in Aston Villa ace Carney Chukwuemeka and Dortmund star Jude Bellingham. Chukwuemeka, who is just 18-years-old, has already made 15 appearances for the Villa first team, and has scored 6 for England U19's. Bellingham ...

'I Would Say Sell' - Pundit Suggests Liverpool And Arsenal Transfer Target Needs To Leave

Image
Pundit and Aston Villa legend Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that Carney Chukwuemeka may have to be sold amidst interest from Liverpool and Arsenal. The youngster was left behind from Villa’s pre-season tour in Australia, which gives a clear indication of where Steven Gerrard’s head is at with the situation. At 18, he is regarded as of one of the top talents in the country. He captains the England Under-19 squad, and has made 11 league appearances for the Villans last term. But Agbonlahor, another who came through the ranks at Bodymoor Heath, believes that Chukwuemeka’s future at Villa is purely dependent on the financial side of things. “I would say keep,” said Agbonlahor to talkSPORT. “But the problem is the wages and what he is asking for. Aston Villa have got to stick to their guns." “If he is asking for too much money, then I would say sell because he hasn’t earned the right to earn top money yet.” It is rumoured that the teenager is asking for around £100,000 a week, which woul...

'Anthony Martial Is Up There To Get The Golden Boot' After Sensational Pre-Season

Image
'Anthony Martial Is Up There To Get The Golden Boot' After Sensational Pre-Season Anthony Martial has been told he can win the Premier League Golden Boot after a sensational pre-season with Manchester United. The forward scored three goals in four appearances during United's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. Martial spent the second half of last season on loan with Sevilla and struggled, scoring just one goal during his time with the La Liga giants. Many believed new manager Erik ten Hag would look to move Martial on, but he's given him a chance following Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer request. The 26-year-old repaid that trust with goals against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace. United fan Luke has been impressed and thinks he could end up the Pre mier League's top scorer come May. He told talkSPORT: "I think that he’s up there to get the Golden Boot this year, Anthony Martial. "Call me insane, but United bought him for a reason ...

Liverpool To Consider Selling Naming Rights To New Anfield Road Stand

Image
Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan says the club would consider selling the naming rights to their new Anfield Road stand in a break from tradition. Liverpool are currently redeveloping their iconic stadium by rebuilding its Anfield Road stand, situated at the opposite end of the pitch to The Kop. The £80m expansion, which is on course to be completed for the start of the 2023-24 season, is set to add an extra 7,000 seats to Anfield – taking the stadium's overall capacity to 61,000. It will be the second major redevelopment of the stadium in recent years, following the construction of the new Main Stand which was completed in 2017. Hogan has confirmed Liverpool would be open to selling the naming rights to the new stand if the club receives a suitable offer. "It's certainly something that we will consider," he told The Athletic. "We didn't for the Main Stand; we may for Anfield Road. "We wouldn't say no to it, but it's not something we're ...

Liverpool Want To Keep Hold Of Club Legend This Summer

Image
switch to Juventus this summer, but Liverpool have no interest in selling the forward. The Brazilian international lost his place in Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI last season with Sadio Mané more regularly occupying the centre-forward role. As such, Firmino made just 20 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last term, only starting 10 of those games. And some believed he would thus be moved on this summer if an opportunity to leave arose for the 30-year-old. But after Mané’s departure, it would appear the forward won’t be going anywhere this summer. That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, who claim Firmino remains a highly valued member of the Liverpool squad despite his reduced role. And this season, he could become more important to the Reds. In Darwin Nuñez, Liverpool have an exciting, but raw talent who could take a while to acclimatise to the high demands of the Premier League. He’s shown glimpses of quality during pre-season, scoring four goals against RB Leipzig on Thursda...

Presented Formal Offer' - Club May Make €23M Bid For Liverpool Legend

Image
Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is the subject of interest for Italian giants Juventus, according to reports. The Brazilian has been a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s side since the German’s arrival, scoring 98 goals in 327 appearances after joining from Hoffenheim in 2015. But with the signing of Darwin Nunez and the previous addition of Diogo Jota, Firmino’s influence will now be limited to mostly substitute appearances. He did score 11 goals in 35 matches last campaign, with three in the knockout rounds of the Reds run to the UEFA Champions League final. Juventus are looking to add foil to their new star man Dusan Vlahovic, who arrived from Fiorentina last January. After several season without a Scudetto, Massimiliano Allegri will be keen to topple the Milan monopoly once more. And with Firmino in the last year of his Liverpool contract, both the club and the player’s entourage have to make a decision as to whether it is worth keeping the 30-year-old at the club in a reduced role...

'We Shouldn't Mention' - Thomas Tuchel Makes Big Liverpool Claim Following Arsenal Defeat

Image
Chelsea were dealt a sobering blow last night after being defeated 4-0 Arsenal, and Thomas Tuchel has admitted his side likely won’t be involved in a title race this season. Speaking after the game, Tuchel stated Chelsea “shouldn’t even mention” Liverpool and Manchester City this term. He was disappointed in the manner of Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal, considering his side “absolutely beaten” by the Europa League outfit. And that wasn’t Chelsea’s only loss of their pre-season tour in the US. They also fell short against Charlotte on Wednesday after a penalty shootout. Last term, off the back of 2020/21 Champions League victory, Chelsea were very much viewed as title challengers at the season’s beginning. However, the Blues ended up finishing 19 points behind Champions Manchester City. They also tasted defeat in FA Cup and EFL Cup finals. This summer, they have also lost one of their star players as Antonio Rudiger has left the club to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. He has bee...

Image
Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish are developing a strong bromance and tunnel footage from Manchester City's 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich proves it. Check out the video below. Haaland missed City's 2-1 win against Club America earlier this week but started against Bundesliga giants Bayern in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 22-year-old opened his account for the Premier League champions inside 12 minutes after turning home a cutback from Grealish. At full-time, both players made their way down the Lambeau Field tunnel and Grealish was eager to chat with his new teammate. "Erling! I told you," he can be heard shouting as Haaland turns around. The Norway international immediately replied: "Exactly, these balls that's what I like." Grealish decided to get Kalvin Phillips involved in the chat too and explains: "Kal, I said to him just before the game, I'll go down the line and cross it into the box for him so he can finish first time." Jack Grealish Produced His First World-Class Display For Man City, His Highlights Are Special

Image
Jack Grealish looks ready to do the business in his second season for Manchester City after producing a scintillating display against Bayern Munich. After being loudly booed early this week following a bust-up with Guillermo Ochoa of Club America, the £100 million man was in fine form at a rainy Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. City won 1-0 courtesy of Erling Haaland's goal just 12 minutes into his debut, with the tap-in set up by Grealish, who played with a swagger and directness throughout. Kevin De Bruyne fizzed a pass into the former Aston Villa captain and after a perfect first touch to take it past his Dayot Upamecano, he laid it on a plate for City's No.9. The presence of Haaland, an out and out striker, already seems to be having a positive effect o n Grealish and his performances. Although he won the Premier League in his first season with City, Grealish did take some adjusting to Pep Guardiola's way of playing and finished the campaign with just three goal...

Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton was set to leave the Reds this window to join Blackburn Rovers on loan, but Jurgen Klopp has halted the move. The 19-year-old midfielder has been subject of high praise from the German this pre-season after making his breakthrough last campaign. Morton started for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, as well as making several cup appearances in a successful domestic double campaign. "Tyler Morton has definitely made the next steps.” Klopp told the press in Bangkok. "He played good games for us but at 6 when he's actually an 8. When you see him now training, absolutely exceptional." Morton did look like he was on his way to Blackburn Rovers, the club which provided such a great platform for Harvey Elliott, but now, with injuries in Liverpool’s midfield, the manager wants him to stay at the club until further notice. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled up in a pre-season friendly which led him to miss the Reds’ trainin...

Football Fans Are Debating If They Prefer Prime Kevin De Bruyne Or Prime Zinedine Zidane

Manchester City star De Bruyne is regarded as one of the best players in the world right now and has helped City to four of the last five Premier League titles. The Belgium international is graceful on the ball and has a pass in his locker which he can whip out at any time. De Bruyne is armed with a wicked shot too and is responsible for a number of screamers down the years. On the other hand, Zidane marvelled during his time at Juventus, even winning the World Cup with France and Ballon d'Or in 1998. 'Zizou' had a first touch gifted to him by the gods and drifted through every game with ease. He became the most expensive player in the world after moving to Real Madrid in 2001 and there he won the Champions League, with his volley against Bayer Leverkusen being the winning goal in the final. Zidane spent five years at Real a...
